About This Data
Median values come from the Federal Reserve's 2022 Survey of Consumer Finances (SCF), the most comprehensive triennial survey of U.S. family finances. All figures are in 2022 dollars. The SCF is conducted every three years — the next update is expected in 2025. "Median" means half of the people or families in your group have more, and half have less. This calculator shows where you fall relative to that midpoint — it is not a judgment of financial health, since circumstances vary widely.
